The following purchase price ranges are indicative of the Galway City market based on available data from the REA Average House Price Index (Q4 2024), the Property Price Register, and current listings on Daft.ie and MyHome.ie. All prices are acquisition prices in EUR.
- Apartments (1–2 bedrooms): Approximately €200,000 EUR–€400,000 EUR. City centre and Salthill apartments command higher prices; suburban apartments offer a lower entry point.
- Three-bedroom semi-detached house (second-hand): The benchmark property type tracked by the REA Average House Price Index. Average sale price in Galway City: €370,000 EUR as of Q4 2024 (REA Average House Price Index, December 2024). In County Galway outside the city: approximately €270,000 EUR.
- Three-bedroom terraced house: Broadly comparable to semi-detached stock in similar locations; typically in the range of €300,000 EUR–€420,000 EUR in the city.
- Four-bedroom semi-detached house: Prices vary significantly by location; broadly in the range of €450,000 EUR–€800,000 EUR in established city suburbs such as Salthill, Knocknacarra, and Taylor's Hill.
- Four-bedroom detached house: Premium detached homes in sought-after areas such as Taylor's Hill and Salthill regularly sell between €700,000 EUR and €1,800,000 EUR+, based on recent Property Price Register data and current listings.
- New build properties: New build supply in Galway is very limited. Where available, new builds are priced at a premium to comparable second-hand stock, and VAT (13.5%) is included in the purchase price; stamp duty is calculated on the VAT-exclusive price.
