Remoters privacy policy

We are against hoarding data that serves no purpose: it isn't green, and on top of that it's useless. So here, without jargon, is what we collect, why, who we share it with and how long we keep it. Any question: [email protected].
1. Who is responsible
The data controller is Remoters SAS, 9 rue Poirier, 94160 Saint-Mandé, France, SIREN 898 005 822. Remoters has no data protection officer; the contact for anything about your data is [email protected].
This policy applies to the remoters.io website, the app.remoters.io application, our forms and our exchanges by email, phone and WhatsApp. It forms part of the client terms and the Home Finder terms.
2. The data we collect
We only collect what you give us, and what your browsing generates.
If you are looking for a home: identity (first and last name), contact details (email, phone, WhatsApp), language, your project (city, dates, budget, type of home, personal and professional situation as you describe it), your exchanges with us and with your Home Finder through the platform, quotes and payments (via Stripe: we never see your card number), and the review you may leave at the end of the mission.
If you are a Home Finder: identity, contact details, photograph, city and area of activity, experience, legal status, invoicing and payment details, identity-verification documents requested by our payment provider, history of your missions and reviews received.
If you browse the website: technical data (IP address, browser, pages viewed, traffic source) through the cookies described in section 7, subject to your consent.
Mandatory fields are marked with an asterisk. We do not collect so-called sensitive data; if you mention any in the description of your project (a health situation, for instance), it is used only for your search and passed only to your Home Finder.

4. Who we share your data with
We do not sell your data to anyone: no agency, no advertiser, no "partner". Only three categories of recipients.
Your Home Finder. Your request (identity, contact details, project) is passed on to one Remoters Home Finder, sometimes two, never more. The Home Finder is an independent professional, not a Remoters employee; they act as a separate data controller for your search, with a contractual obligation to use your data only for that search, not to disclose it, and to delete it once the mission is over. They may pass on to agencies, landlords or hosts only the information needed for your file.

Authorities, where the law requires it (court orders, accounting or tax obligations).
Some of these providers are based outside the European Union. Transfers are governed by the European Commission's standard contractual clauses or, for certified US providers, by the Data Privacy Framework. In addition, if you are looking for a home outside the European Union, your Home Finder is based there: passing on your request is necessary to perform the contract you ask us for.
5. How long we keep your data

After these periods, data is deleted or anonymised. The statistics we keep on local markets do not allow you to be identified.
6. Your rights
At any time you may access your data, have it corrected or erased, request restriction or portability, object to processing based on our legitimate interest, and withdraw any consent you have given (newsletter, cookies). You may also tell us what you want done with your data after your death.
To exercise a right, an email to [email protected] is enough, from the address linked to your account or request. We only ask for proof of identity if we have reasonable doubt about who you are. We reply within one month.
If you believe we are not respecting your rights, you may lodge a complaint with the CNIL (www.cnil.fr), the French supervisory authority, or with the authority in your country of residence.
7. Cookies
On your first visit, a banner (Axeptio) asks what you accept. You can change your mind at any time via the "Cookie preferences" link at the bottom of the page.

No cookie is kept for more than 13 months. Refusing non-necessary cookies does not stop you using the website or submitting a request.
8. Security
Your data is hosted by certified providers (encryption in transit and at rest, backups, access control). Access to requests is limited to the Remoters team and the assigned Home Finder. In the event of a data breach likely to affect you, we inform you, and the CNIL, within the statutory timeframes.
9. Minors
The website is intended for adults. If you are under 18, ask a parent or guardian to submit the request for you.
10. Changes
We may update this policy, for example if we change provider. The update date is shown at the top of the page; in the event of a significant change, we inform you by email or on the website.
This policy is written in French and translated into English; in case of discrepancy, the French version prevails.
