During every in-person property visit carried out in Toulouse on behalf of a student, the Remoters property hunter follows a structured inspection checklist covering the accommodation itself, the building, and the immediate environment.
Inside the property:
- Overall surface area and layout relative to the advertised description.
- Natural light, ventilation, and orientation of the main room.
- Condition of walls, floors, ceilings: presence of damp, mould, cracks, or peeling paint.
- State of kitchen fittings and appliances (for furnished rentals).
- Bathroom and toilet condition, water pressure, and hot water supply.
- Heating system type and condition (electric, gas, central heating).
- Electrical installation: visible condition of sockets, switches, and fuse box.
- Presence and condition of mandatory smoke detector(s).
- Quality and security of door and window locks.
- Internet connectivity: fibre or ADSL availability in the building.
Building and common areas:
- Security of the main entrance (intercom, code lock, concierge).
- Condition of stairwells, lifts, and shared spaces.
- Availability of a letterbox, bicycle storage, and rubbish facilities.
Immediate surroundings:
- Noise environment (street traffic, neighbouring businesses, nightlife).
- Distance and walking time to the nearest metro or bus stop.
- Proximity to shops, pharmacies, and essential services.
