During every in-person property visit in Lyon, the Remoters representative carries out a structured inspection covering all aspects of the accommodation. The following points are systematically checked:
- Actual surface area: measured or estimated on-site and compared to the advertised figure
- General condition of walls, ceilings, and floors: presence of cracks, damp patches, mould, or peeling paint
- Windows and natural light: quality of glazing, orientation, and level of natural light in each room
- Ventilation and air quality: functioning of ventilation systems (VMC), absence of condensation or persistent odours
- Electrical installation: visible condition of sockets, switches, and fuse box; presence of earthing
- Heating system: type, age, and apparent functioning of the heating
- Hot water supply: functioning of the water heater and water pressure
- Kitchen and bathroom fittings: condition of appliances, plumbing, and sanitary fixtures
- Smoke detectors: presence and functioning (mandatory under French law)
- Building entrance and security: quality of the main door lock, intercom, and letterbox
- Noise levels: assessment of street noise, neighbouring activity, and building acoustics
- Neighbourhood environment: proximity to transport, shops, and university campuses
All findings are documented in the visit report shared with the student and parents after each visit.
